The Features: An Online Workshop
Have you ever sculpted a face and found the features looking flat or out of proportion? In this four-and-a-half-hour online workshop, we will break down the sculpting of individual facial features, including the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears, to better understand their anatomy, structure, and spatial relationships.
I will demonstrate how to approach each feature by breaking down complex forms into simple, manageable steps. Using a combination of additive and reductive techniques, we will sculpt each feature in solid clay before hollowing it out from the back. Drawing from my own sculpting journey and teaching experience, I have found that working solid allows you to focus on proportion, volume, and anatomy without the added challenge of building and maintaining the structure of a hollow form.
Whether you're a beginner looking for guidance or a more experienced sculptor hoping to refine your figurative work, this workshop will provide practical techniques, and a stronger understanding of facial anatomy to help you sculpt more dimensional, expressive, and convincing features in clay.
Workshop Includes:
Material List + Tool Recommendations
Hand-Drawn Reference Guide
Photographic references + Book Recommendations
